Captain Clutch does it one last time at Yankee Stadium! The future hall of famer Derek Jeter ends his incredible career with a game winning single, beating the Baltimore Orioles with a score of 6-5 in yesterday's farewell game. Who could have predicted such a Hollywood written ending to this baseball player's career. Although the Yankees are out of the playoff race completely, Derek Jeter would not allow that to be the last thing we remember about him. I'll never forget when he hit that home run in Game 4 of the championship series to beat Arizona. Or the time you became the all time leader in hits in Yankee history, surpassing Lou Gehrig. But to be honest, for me it will not be the clutch home runs and diving saves that I will remember most about Derek Jeter, it will be the talks I had with my family about his excellence. No matter what the topic of discussion was at a table full of Yankee fans it could most definitely be pushed to the side to rather talk about Derek Jeter. My ten year old cousin would talk about him as if he were God. My grandmother would invite us over for diner just to tell the family what an amazing play he made to make the final out of an inning. My family and I have been to several Yankee home games and couldn't wait to see number 2 take the field. So goodbye Derek Jeter, thank you for all those moments with my family that you made possible. Thanks for picking up a glove when you were a kid, and not a golf club.

Liam Neeson Returns to the Big Screen!
Liam Neeson is back! That's right this Friday on September 19th his newest action thriller hits theatres titled A Walk Among The Tombstones. The movie looks to place Liam Neeson in a role he is most familiar with, as his character looks to solve a mystery kidnapping before time runs out. The trailer for the movie looks promising, as Neeson teases our eye with his classic ability to portray a bad ass that no criminal can outrun. If you enjoy light hearted fairytales where the ending is always happy than this movie is not the one for you. The film's Oscar nominated director Frank Scott has an impressive resume to solidify your Friday night ticket. Scott looks to stay consistent with the expectations of the genre of an action thriller, incorporating a dense and twisted plot that weaves between action and emotion. The film is also based on the best selling novel by Lawrence Block entitled the same as the film. So take a night off from the weekend partying and family dinners and let your imagination escape to a world where bullets fly and hero's rise. Just remember, no matter how intense the movie might get, Liam Neeson is there for us to count on.

Beer Pong with my Mom
The music is loud, the girls are dancing, and every guy is looking for the coldest beer in the box. There is something truly magical about a great college party, even when someone brings their own mother. Yea that is right, last Saturday night was the first night I brought my own mother out with me to a sorority party with my fraternity brothers. She attended Ohio university during her college days, so partying was nothing new to her. Immediately as usual I set my sights on the beer pong table. My mom agreed to play with me and our competitive family nature took over. Soon enough my mom and I were draining shots like it was game seven of the NBA finals. We won our first game by at least five cups and celebrated with some cold beer. It was an amazing feeling to beat other college kids with a mom that hasn't played beer pong in a very long time. I asked her what has changed about partying from when she was in college and what she witnessed Saturday night, she said " the music was a lot different, I also did not expect to see so many people in such a small house, and I loved the fact that everyone knew everyone else at the party, we did not have that at my school when I was growing up." My mom loved her experience at Wittenberg and I'm sure she can't wait to come back. So if you think your mom is as cool as mine, bring her down for parents weekend, and lets see who can party!

Expanded Pre-K Schools in New York; A Student's First Step
This morning will prove to be a test for many New York city mothers and fathers as their students begin the first day of school. Mom has packed the lunch, cut off the crust, and pressed her son's lucky shirt. Dad has gassed up the car and set the alarm to start off the year right. But what if you were a parent dropping your kid off to an entirely recently expanded school system in one of the five boroughs of the big apple? Mayor Bill de Blasio has decided that a city is only as good as its foundation, and his plan has already opened up new childhood learning opportunity's for more than 51,000 kids between the ages of 4 and 6. New York's population is what has always posed the challenge for education plans in New York city. Naturally the more student packed into one class causes an influx of attention toward each individual student's learning needs and curiosities. Although the success rate of these schools is yet to be seen, I am aboard the mayor's ship to start bettering education from the ground up. Your mind is like a sponge when you are young, it just wants to absorb every little thing. The more we can teach these kids at a younger age, the opportunity's they will have in the future. These schools will also have an amazing affect on the adults in the city, who do not have to count on family relatives to care for their kids while they are at work anymore. So strap on your book bags and put on your thinking caps, because New York city has a young bright future on the horizon!

Witt Soccer is busy Net-Working
Wittenberg soccer held it's second home game of the season last night, but you hardly felt like the crowd was on their side. That was because the visiting team Wilmington brought more cheering fans than we did. Whenever Wilmington would touch the ball you could hear the crowd erupt with excitement. The game started out feeling like a home game for Wilmington, but soon Wittenberg and their home crowd would find the Tiger within them. Wilmington's Taylor Estes scored an incredible goal in the 22nd minute from 35 yards out. However, senior goalie James Van Artsdalen and the Tigers were not phased by these early heroics. Van Artsdalen would go on to make five key saves and allow the Tigers to get back in the game. Wittenberg began playing with a higher intensity in the second half. it was as if someone had flipped a switch and we saw an entirely different team. Nothing was easy for Wilmington anymore, every ball was contested, every pass was crisper, and every man had the eye of the Tiger. In the 73rd minute Patrick Szymzak would come back with a goal of his own evening up the score. The Tigers knew there was still work to be done, so in the 84th minute none other than stand out senior Mitch Rudibaugh scores the game winner from inside the box. The Wittenberg fans have now droned out the visitors from Wilmington and claimed their first victory!
